The teenage rebellion has greatly influenced fashion and has helped contribute to Australia’s modern identity. Fashion from the 50s and 80s has greatly affected Australia’s modern identity. This is because people in contemporary society are still greatly influenced by the fashions of the past such as the rebellious styles shown in ‘Rebel without a cause (1955)’ and ‘The Wild One (1953)’ as these styles are still associated with rebellion. Many teenagers today are influenced by popular TV series such as ‘Pretty Little Liars (2010)’ and ‘Keeping Up with the Kardashians (2007). These series however are based in America which help to show global American influence. Possibly the most influential style emerging is from the “hugely popular television series [MadMen, which] has been seen to influence the fashion world where runway collections get described as “MadMen influenced” in the press and high street stores are stocking up on key pieces to sell this look (LadyMPresents, 2015)” The teenage rebellion has greatly influenced fashion and helped to contribute to today’s fashion styles which has impacted Australia’s modern identity.
